For nearly five decades, Workbook has helped commercial artists connect with the people looking to hire them. Along the way, we’ve watched the industry reinvent itself again and again, from printed sourcebooks and portfolios carried into meetings, to websites, social media, digital marketing, and now artificial intelligence. The tools have changed dramatically. What hasn’t changed is the value of a distinct point of view, a body of work built with intention, and the human relationships that turn creative talent into a career.
Through every shift, Workbook has evolved alongside the artists we represent. Today, that means doing more than simply showing great work. We help artists understand how they are discovered, how they present themselves, and how to build a personal marketing strategy in an increasingly crowded and automated world. We connect photographers, illustrators, directors, designers, and other visual creators with agencies, brands, publishers, and creative professionals—and we continue to develop new ways to make their work easier to find, understand, and hire.
We believe the next chapter of commercial art will be shaped by technology, but defined by people. As AI changes how images are created, searched for, and consumed, the value of genuinely human art, work informed by experience, judgment, curiosity, collaboration, and individual perspective, becomes more important, not less. Workbook has weathered enormous changes before, and we’re here for this one too: helping artists adapt without losing what makes their work their own, and helping the creative industry continue to find the humans behind the art.
